How will my donation be acknowledged?
All donors will receive a thank you email and tax receipt, and be recognized as part of the wider donor community. Gifts of $1,000 or more are specifically acknowledged on our website, on social media and in our regular newsletters.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, donations of $2 and over are tax deductible. Purchases of memberships, event tickets, sponsorships or any other payment where you receive a direct benefit are not tax deductible.
How is my donation used?
Your donation plays a vital role in preserving the rich history and culture of Newfoundland and Labrador’s sealing heritage. Every contribution supports our ability to produce world-class exhibitions, vibrant programs, and events that are accessible to all.

The Home From the Sea – Sealers Memorial Interpretation Centre has grown and enriched its collection thanks to the generosity of donors who choose to contribute artifacts, documents, and works of art that reflect the region’s sealing heritage. Our curatorial team carefully evaluates potential donations in alignment with our Collections Policy and provides recommendations to the Board for inclusion in the Centre’s collection.
If you’re considering donating an item of historical or cultural significance, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your contribution. Please note that we are unable to authenticate or appraise items; we recommend consulting a professional appraiser or auction house for valuation services.
