Established in 2011 to construct an appropriate memorial ahead of the 100^th anniversary of the Great Sealing Disaster of 1914, the mission of the Home from The Sea Foundation is to maintain the Sealers Memorial and Interpretation Center in Elliston and to use these emotionally charged assets to benefit the community and our province.  

Our ongoing mission includes finding and sharing more stories of our rich maritime heritage. Shared locally and more broadly through digital channels and traveling exhibits, our foundation is committed to ensuring the stories that underpin our unique culture and identity are preserved for future generations and support cultural tourism in rural areas.
