ELLIOTT ART GALLERY

Supported by

Elliott Family

As a maritime people, we are inspired by the land and sea, their beauty and dangers, our tragedies and triumphs. Our art is as diverse as we are. Through visual art, writing, storytelling, drama and music, our artists are globally recognized and much loved at home for interpreting and sharing our rich cultural heritage.

David Blackwood, John McDonald, George Noseworthy and Gerry Squires are just some of the  celebrated artists you will see when you visit us.

You Don’t Know Cold

“You Don’t Know Cold” is a larger-than-life, generational triptych by visual Artist John McDonald. Here in the Elliott Art Gallery, these numbing images of penetrating cold provide a stunning permanent backdrop for rotating readings, demonstrations, and exhibits by other acclaimed and emerging Newfoundland and Labrador artists and storytellers whose works focus on our sense of place.

Memorial Site

The Sealers Memorial Statue and Monument in Elliston commemorates the 2541lives lost in the twin sealing disasters of 1914. In a larger sense, it honours all those who have taken great risks on the sea to support their families and build communities.
